Vendor Advice for Multi-WAN All-In-One Firewall/Router

All ... update on Meraki:

Their devices have a limited number of ports. We would have to institute VLAN's on our network -- if we can. As mentioned in earlier conversations, we had issues making that work before -- but don't remember why.

They don't do the complicated load balancing we need to do: their device cannot use up the T-1 and then spillover equally onto two WAN's.

They are expensive. In order to put in a user capture portal, we would have to buy 4 (maybe 5) MR12 wireless access points. An MX80 plus the access points and the first year of updates and support would be $6,000 list for the initial purchase. It would then be $2500 or more per year. Yes, I paid attention to Limey's comments that we would not pay list prices, but even if there are 50% discounts, we cannot afford their solution. I'm balking at paying $1,000 or $2,000 for a new firewall and a few hundred dollars per year for updates. My business partner (my wife) would really balk at those high costs.

Meraki is off the list.

More to come....
